Investigating the Impact of Periodontal (Gum) Disease on Oral Health
If you see red or bleeding gums, tooth loss, or bad breath, you might have signs of gum disease. This condition is connected to heart disease and stroke. Dr. Lee and his hygienist will offer personalized diagnosis and treatment for gum disease at our office, as it can differ from person to person.
Gum disease is often unnoticed and can cause serious damage before being detected. If you think you have gum disease, it is crucial to seek periodontic gum therapy promptly.

Treating Gum Disease: Available Options
There are two types of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is identified by tender, bleeding gums and can often be treated with more frequent dental hygiene appointments at our office. We may also suggest using medicated mouthwash to improve your at-home oral care routine and prevent further gum infection.
Periodontitis is a more severe form of gum disease, characterized by chronic bad breath, loose teeth, pus between teeth, and a persistent unpleasant taste. Our dentists provide scaling and root planing or laser gum therapy to address periodontitis. These treatments effectively remove bacteria and plaque from below the gum line, ensuring the long-term health of your teeth and gums.
